Psilocybin Therapy
Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy in Colorado
with Jacob Meyer, LCSW, LAC, NMF
You may have found your way here because you’ve been considering psilocybin-assisted therapy for some time, or you may still be deciding how you feel about the idea. Psilocybin temporarily changes the way different areas of the brain communicate, which can make our usual patterns of thinking and processing more flexible. During this time, emotions, memories, beliefs, and experiences that have been difficult to understand or work through may feel different or become more accessible.
This shift may allow you to approach familiar patterns from another perspective, deepen your understanding of what you’ve been carrying, and consider new ways of relating to yourself and your experiences. Because psilocybin can also bring up difficult or unexpected emotions, memories, and physical sensations, the experience and clinical background of the person supporting you matters.
At Safe Harbor, this work is facilitated by Jacob Meyer, LCSW, LAC, MSW, an experienced trauma therapist who brings specialized training in trauma, nervous system regulation, and natural medicine facilitation to every stage of the process.

Clinical experience matters when the experience is difficult to predict.
Our psilocybin-assisted therapy is facilitated by Jacob Meyer, LCSW, LAC, NMF, a trauma therapist with more than a decade of clinical experience and specialized training as a Natural Medicine Clinical Facilitator (NMF). His background includes extensive work with trauma and addiction, along with training in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-focused approaches, and psychedelic facilitation. He is among a small number of facilitators in Colorado who also bring master’s-level clinical training and experience to this work.
That experience matters because psilocybin can bring you into closer contact with emotions, memories, physical sensations, and experiences that may be difficult to access or fully understand in everyday life. Feeling safe enough to turn inward can matter just as much as the experience itself. At times, what emerges can feel unfamiliar, uncomfortable, or emotionally intense. Jacob brings an understanding of trauma, nervous system regulation, mental health, and therapeutic integration to how he prepares for and supports each experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
Psychedelic work can sometimes be described as though you simply surrender yourself to the experience. At Safe Harbor, your autonomy remains important throughout the entire process. You have a voice in decisions about your dosage, can ask questions or express uncertainty at any point, and can change your mind about moving forward. Jacob’s role is to help you make informed decisions and support you through the experience, while respecting your comfort level, boundaries, and choices along the way.
No. Previous psychedelic experience is one factor considered during preparation and dosage discussions, but it is not necessarily required.
Difficult emotions, memories, or physical sensations can arise during a psychedelic experience. Jacob’s specialized training and clinical background as a trauma therapist help him recognize signs of dysregulation and support you in returning to your window of tolerance without taking control or deciding what the experience means for you. He draws on the same nervous system regulation and trauma-informed skills he uses in his clinical work to help you stay connected to what is unfolding without becoming overwhelmed by it.
Dosage is discussed collaboratively rather than predetermined. You have input into your dose, while Jacob uses his clinical judgment to recommend an amount he believes can be safely and appropriately supported. He considers factors such as your previous experience with psychedelics, medications, mental health and treatment history, trauma history, goals, and comfort level. The goal is not to create the most intense experience possible, but to determine a dose that is appropriate for you and the experience you are hoping to explore.
Psilocybin affects perception differently from person to person. You may experience changes in visual perception, physical sensations, emotions, memories, thoughts, or your sense of time. Part of preparation involves talking honestly about what you might experience so that you can make an informed decision about dosage and moving forward.
